Standardized Testing at SCLHS
St. Croix administers standardized tests to its students for a number of reasons. To help students and their advisors plan the best selections for their course of study, students in 9th grade take the Explore test, which helps identify interests and aptitudes and begins suggesting possible careers that would fit each student. Sophomores (10th graders) complete the PLAN test to further determine specific strengths and areas which may be improved upon before applying to college or pursuing a career.
On the same day (usually in October) all 11th graders complete the PSAT (practice SAT), which is an indicator to the students of how they might score on the ACT and/or SAT college entrance tests. This test also identifies students who may qualify for National Merit Scholarships.
The results of these tests are shared with the students and parents. The faculty also uses overall (not individual) results in planning coursework and evaluating the effectiveness of their materials.
Juniors and seniors are encouraged to plan to take the ACT or SAT tests early in the academic year, and to re-take the test to improve their scores. Details on registration, testing dates, and locations are available on the websites: www.actstudent.org and www.collegeboard.com. Both the ACT and SAT now require online registration in almost all circumstances.
St. Croix Lutheran High School's school code (ID code) is: 242-673.
St. Croix is a test site for the ACT on June 11, 2011. Register early if you wish to take the ACT at SCLHS.
Test preparation classes are offered at SCLHS by Dr. Carrie Pfeifer. Click for details and registration information: ACT SAT/TOEFL
